COVID-19 = Coronavirus Disease, Identified in 2019

COVID-19 is a new respiratory illness that spreads from person to person.  There are many types of human coronaviruses including some that commonly cause mild upper-respirator tract illnesses.  COVID-19 is a new disease, caused by a novel (or new) coronavirus that has not previously been seen in humans.  COVID-19 symptoms can range from mild (or no symptoms) to severe illness.  COVID-19 is primarily spread from person to person.
