Cordilleras Mental Health Facility
The Cordilleras facility, located at 200 Edmonds Road in Redwood City, is a 117-bed facility serving mentally ill residents. Constructed in 1952, the facility is deteriorating and too costly to maintain. The proposed project is to construct a five 16-bed single-story adult residential facility, which will increase the bed availability from 117 to 137. Replacing Cordilleras with a campus comprised of smaller facilities has the potential for up to 50% federal reimbursement, and will also provide for more effective programs for seriously mentally ill residents so that they can successfully transition back to community living.
