Overview

The Project Development Unit (PDU) is organized under the San Mateo County Manager's Office and is comprised of approximately ten employees consisting of accountants, project managers, strategists, technicians, and support staff. PDU provides construction services for all new ground-up capital construction projects for the County of San Mateo properties.

Mission

The Project Development Unit (PDU) pursues excellence by delivering buildings and other County infrastructure that are functional, aesthetically appropriate, cost-effective, sustainable, inspiring, and compatible with the County of San Mateo mission and policies.

Accountability – At the core of accountability is reliability and personal responsibility; therefore, we value the ability of our staff and organization to honor our commitments. We will also take responsibility for our work and make what is wrong, right, to the greatest extent possible. Stewardship – We understand our projects are funded by taxes, therefore, carefully managing the funds from the County of San Mateo taxpayers drives every decision we make and guides every action we take. We routinely deliver projects on time and within budget; we make every effort to minimize schedule and cost overruns.
